About Selena Quintanilla

Selena Quintanilla is one of the most recognized Latino singers in the U.S. who lived a short life filled with success by becoming the queen of Tejano music, a type of folk and popular music originated among the Hispanic population of Southern Texas. Selena Quintanilla was a Mexican American singer-songwriter. She was named the �top Latin artist of the �90s� and �Best selling Latin artist of the decade� by Billboard, for her fourteen top-ten singles in the Top Latin Songs chart, including seven number-one hits. At the time of her tragic murder on March 31st 1995, Selena was known as �The Queen of Tejano�.

Selena Quintanilla was murdered at the age of 23 on March 31, 1995 by Yolanda in the president of her fan club. George W. Bush, Governor of Taxes at that time, declared her birthday as a �Selena Day� after her death. Selena�s death had a widespread impact. Later a movie was made on her life in 1997. Jennifer Lopez played Selena in a film about her life. Directed by Gregory Nava, the biopic opened with mostly positive reviews.

Selena Quintanilla is loved by her fans for her kindness, her love of her fans, her positive attitude and, of course, the wonderful music she made.
